FreshScan

Fast, non-destructive measurement of inner fruit parameters — in five seconds.

FreshScan measures fruit quality parameters, such as:

  • sweetness (Brix),
  • water and juice content,
  • acidity and
  • firmness

in a single five-second measurement — without cutting or destroying the fruit. It is used by quality teams at goods receiving and in production to make ripeness and quality calls objective.

How it works

  • Portable device combining VIS-UV fluorescence and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy.
  • Managed directly by the newQC app, so every result is linked to the quality inspection it belongs to.

Outcome

One measurement delivers multiple inner quality parameters non-destructively, replacing slow and sample-destroying lab methods.

Field of application

  • at harvest
  • goods receiving in warehouses

FreshDetect

Fast, non-destructive measurement of the effective age of meat.

FreshDetect captures the decay of meat protein primarily driven by spoilage bacteria. Using UV-fluorescence spectroscopy, it evaluates accumulated spoilage as a function of time and storage temperature, and reports it as an *effective product age* referenced to the legal limit temperature (2 °C). For illustration: a product stored constantly at 4 °C for 2 days shows an effective age of 5 days — its decay matches that of a product kept for 5 days at 2 °C. One measurement takes one second; because meat is inhomogeneous, we strongly recommend at least 20 measurements per batch.

How it works

  • Portable device combining VIS-UV fluorescence and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy — the same platform as FreshScan, tuned for meat and fish.
  • Usable stand-alone or as part of the newQC inspection solution, so results are linked to the quality inspection they belong to.

Outcome

An objective “effective age” measured in seconds, comparable across the cold chain. Validated during the ZL2030 cold-chain disruption assessment *(see KKU [TODO: link/reference])*.

Fields of Application

  • Meat: confirmed for pork, beef and chicken; applicable to other types.
  • Fish: initial tests on salmon; applicable to other types.
